David Rice grew up in Edcouch and earned a Bachelor of Arts from Texas State University and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He is the author of Give the Pig a Chance, Heart-Shaped Cookies, and the award-winning Crazy Loco. He is the author of feature films and plays. South Texas and his Mexican American culture are sources of his artistic inspiration.
